And so after living in Newcastle for a good number of years, surviving a divorce and being a single mum for a good number of those years, I relocated to Poole in Dorset to join the new man in my life. Dorset is a beautiful area of UK and quite affluent by comparison to Newcastle and some of its suburbs! So here I was in a beautiful part of UK but where was I going to shop!! Of course the Charity Shops (what Op shops are called in UK) - were plentiful and some great finds were to be found in them - however as charity shopping had become quite the trendy thing to do by the university students - by the time I could get there at the weekend there were slim pickings left! So the hunt was still on to find somewhere for my love of shopping!! Salvation was just around the corner when through a chance conversation with a work colleague I heard all about a once a month clothes sale held in a local hall in one of the popular suburbs. So the following month I headed over to the hall and queued outside with many other ardent shoppers - the doors opened at 9:00 am and everyone rushed in - to my amazement the hall was just filled with racks and rails containing so many clothes, shoes, handbags - you name it - it was there! It was just heaven and so many of the items were brand new with tags and labels still attached. The fitting room was behind the curtains on the stage so there was no room for being shy if you wanted to try on! The ladies who ran this sale sourced their clothes from all over UK - from old stock from fashion retailers, warehouses etc. and brought it all together once a month in this hall. It became my monthly go to place (and shopping fix I guess) and there I met so many other ardent shoppers who also became friends as we would have a great catch up each month over coffee following our shopping session which often went on for a good few hours. So you see even moving to a new location I had managed to find my new mecca from which to source my endless supply of great clothes and accessories and satisfy my appetite for great budget shopping! It doesn't matter where you live or move to - if you really want to find something that you are interested in - there is always a way!!
